What Building in Public Actually Means

buildingpersonal

"Building in public" has become a cliche. Twitter threads about MRR. Screenshot dumps of Stripe dashboards. It's become performance.

I'm interested in something different.

The Real Value

Building in public isn't about growing an audience (though that can happen). It's about:

  1. Forcing output — If you commit to sharing, you have to actually ship
  2. Thinking clearly — Writing about your work reveals what you don't understand
  3. Creating leverage — Documentation compounds. Future you will thank present you.

What I'm Sharing

Not revenue numbers. Not vanity metrics. Instead:

  • What I'm working on and why
  • Problems I'm stuck on
  • Things I've learned (and things I got wrong)

The goal isn't to impress anyone. It's to have a record of the journey—the decisions, the pivots, the slow progress that eventually becomes something.

The Invitation

If you're building something too, I'd love to hear about it. Reply to this post or find me on Twitter. The best part of doing this publicly is the people you meet along the way.
